Canoë Kayak from Moulin de la Malène to Pas de Soucy
With canoe or kayak, escape to your rhythm in the Gorges du Tarn, a must-see in Lozère. At the heart of the Gorges, a remarkable fauna (several species of vultures in the air, beavers swimming in the Tarn …) and an atypical flora invite you to live an unforgettable moment in a protected nature.
We advise you to embark early morning of the Moulin de la Malène, alone or in several, in order to enjoy a beautiful luminosity.
Your walk starts and you head towards the Pont de la Malène. We advise you to pass under the left arch to row in some small “ratchs” (fast if one can say). Always row and not let yourself be carried.
Most of the time, you sail on calm water and clear, sometimes deep, ideal for a few small dives. Do not hesitate to stop on the wild beaches for a picnic stop.
After a break, you cross the narrowest part of the Gorges du Tarn, the “Straits Parade”. You are evolving for more than 500 meters between impressive rock faces. At the exit of the Straits, you pass in front of the small hamlet of La Croze (not to stop because private property). It is only accessible by the river, you will be able to photograph it during your ascent by shuttle, the driver makes a small stop. Then you arrive at the rock of the Champignon (“Snoopy” for the children) where it is recommended to pass to the right. Another exceptional site awaits you: the Cirque des Baumes where you see the sublime point (magnificent panorama overlooking the Cirque des Baumes).
Then you arrive at Pas de Soucy, again a remarkable site, it is here that you disembark. Arrival at Pas de Soucy is indicated by 2 safety vests hanging in height and by a sign on the bank on the right. It is a mandatory stop because then it is impassable.
Rowing time indicative of 3 hours.
