Paddle boarding, or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), is a relatively new discipline that has its origins in Polynesian traditions. Polynesian fishermen stood on canoes to navigate the lagoons, a practice later taken up by Hawaiian surfers in the 1940s. The latter used large boards and paddles to move upright on the water, both for pleasure and to monitor the waves. Paddle boarding, in its current form, experienced a spectacular boom in the early 2000s, thanks to iconic surfing figures who popularized it as a sport accessible to all. Unlike surfing, SUP can be practiced on calm waters such as lakes, rivers or even calm seas, which makes it an ideal activity for exploration and relaxation. In addition to its fun aspect, paddle boarding is an excellent physical activity. It uses balance, strengthens the core muscles, and improves coordination. Day and night, it offers a unique and immersive experience, allowing you to discover landscapes from a new angle, at the peaceful pace of the paddle. A practice combining modernity, tradition and communion with nature.
