6 – Lucy’s route

Canoë kayak from Saint-Chély du Tarn to Pas de Soucy

Enjoy a physical day in canoe in the most beautiful sites of the Gorges du Tarn.

To start your journey, our shuttle will take you to the starting point of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn. Take a moment to discover this magnificent hamlet of the Gorges du Tarn as far as the waterfall.

Over the water, you pass Pougnadoires, a troglodyte hamlet. After a few strokes of paddles, you will be amazed by the “Château de La Caze” (built in the 15th century) become a sumptuous hotel restaurant.

Continuing your canoe trip, you arrive at the small hamlet of Hauterives, accessible by boat or on foot. Take time to visit it and why not stop there for a picnic. The place is sumptuous.

Once you leave, you will finally see our Moulin and its specificity: the passage of the dike, which easily crosses the left side, then you pass under our base Moulin de la Malène enjoy to admire the architecture of the mill, You will hear the purring of its small hydroelectric plant (current conversion of the mill). Do not hesitate to give us a little sign to tell us that everything is going well …. In this context, the principle is always to row and not to let go. Otherwise, during your journey, you sail on calm water and clear, sometimes deep, ideal for a few small dives.

You cross the narrowest part of the Gorges du Tarn, the “Défilé des Détroits”. You are evolving for more than 500 meters between impressive rock faces. At the exit of the Straits, you pass in front of the small hamlet of La Croze (not to stop because private property). It is only accessible by the river, you will be able to photograph it during your ascent by shuttle, the driver makes a small stop. Then look for the famous rock of the Mushroom (“Snoopy” for children) from which we advise you to pass on the right. It is easy to spot. Another exceptional site awaits you: Cirque des Baumes where you see the sublime point (magnificent panorama overlooking the Cirque des Baumes).

The debris is made at Pas de Soucy, another remarkable site. Arrival at Pas de Soucy is indicated by 2 safety vests hanging in height and by a sign on the bank on the right. It is a mandatory stop because then it is impassable.
